The rating system for skin conditions underwent two significant updates: ย Below are the details of the differences for each relevant code.

Code 7801: Scars on the Body (Excluding Head, Face, and Neck)

2002โ2008 Rating System
Applies toย deep scarsย or scars thatย limit motionย of the affected body part.- Deep scars: Scars that penetrate below the skin and affect soft tissues.
- Scars can be cumulative for a single rating unless clearly distinct areas (e.g., separate arms) exist.
Rating:
- 144 inยฒ or more:ย 40%
- 72 inยฒ or more:ย 30%
- 12 inยฒ or more:ย 20%
- 6 inยฒ or more:ย 10%
Code 7802: Superficial Scars on the Body (Excluding Head, Face, and Neck)

Code 7805: Scars Affecting Functionality
2002โ2008 Rating System
Scars that affect the function of the body part are ratedย based on the functional limitationย of the affected area.
- Example: A scar on the elbow that limits bending would be rated under theย limited motion of the elbowย code.
